Description
Introduction Acute chest pain of unknown origin warrants further investigation and often brokers referral to the Emergency Department. In fact, 20-30% of all emergency hospital admissions are accounted for by acute chest pain.1,2 While acute chest pain can be of cardiac origin, a large portion of the cardiology outpatient workload is made up of non-cardiac chest pain.1 Once cardiac and pulmonary causes of chest pain are ruled out, structures of the chest wall should also be considered when identifying the primary source of pain.
